About the Project
Listen to our podcasts
We have a range of podcasts made by and with our young creatives. You can listen to them here.
“Forgotten Women is a project that wants to remember the female British activists you have never heard of. When I learnt about history as a child and teenager my textbooks were full of exciting and brilliant inventors, explorers, scientists and activists. They had one thing in common, they were all men.
I believe it is so important for women to be visible through history so have created this project which is a creative collaboration between Peer Productions and Bishopsgate Institute. Delving into the archives we want to uncover and provide a platform for women who have been left out of the history books because of their sexuality, age, race, disability or simply gender.
I’ll be working alongside young actors from Peer Productions and professional artists to create podcasts, songs and artwork based on their research at Bishopsgate Institute.
Women have a long lasting narrative of being erased from the history books. Knowing the stories of women, acknowledging their contributions and giving recognition to their achievements helps us to learn who we are and where we’ve come from.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.”
